Transitional Housing

Once released from incarceration Cephas provides support to adult male individuals through our Men's Residence Programs in Rochester and Buffalo.  We offer both short term transitional housing (3 to 6 months) and counseling.  Our mission is to assist parolees make a positive successful transition back into the community and their families by providing a safe, supportive place to live and an opportunity to develop and practice newly acquired life skills.  The houses provide intensive support services within a structured living environment for men on parole, many of whom have histories of substance abuse and/or mental health issues, inadequate independent living skills, low educational levels and little or no employment history.  Our support services are goal-oriented with an emphasis on taking responsibility for one's actions (or inactions), learning coping skills, developing independent living skills and preparing for employment readiness.

Our residential program offers ex-offenders a supportive transition into society.  Through life skills lessons, ex-offender support groups, citizenship training, and a  caring family atmosphere, these men take responsibility for their actions. Instead of taking from society, they  now give back.

Community Ex-Offender Groups

Cephas also conducts two weekly meetings for ex-offenders in the community (Rochester & Buffalo Residences) to provide them with ongoing emotional and moral support and guidance.  Returning to society after a long period of incarceration is a difficult process.  These groups provide a mechanism for successful reintegration.
